Early 20th Century Moser Vase
This is a lovely early 20th century Moser vase. It stands 25.5cm in height, its tapering faceted form decorated with a band of gilt Romanesque figures dancing around the vase. A small scratch towards the base inside the vase (see picture) and a little wear to the base where it has been sitting. A very classical piece.
About Moser Glass:
The Moser Glass Company was founded in 1857 in Czechoslovakia. Ludwig Moser created high quality engraved art glass products. In 1873 he received a medal at the Vienna International Exhibition and this led to increased interest in his products. In 1893 Moser expanded his company to create a full service glassworks which employed over 400 people.
In 1904 the quality of Moser's products won him the favour of the Imperial Court of the Emperor of Austria and he was hired to supply the court with glassware. Edward VII also purchased Moser glass. Because of the company's affiliation with royal courts they marketed themselves as 'King of Glass, Glass of Kings'.
