Late Victorian Tulip Shape Epergne
This is a beautiful late Victorian glass epergne. Extending from a fluted bowl it is centred with seven tulip shaped stems in smoky amethyst with green stems. It stands 44cm in height, the width of the bowl, 22cm. An epergne is a decorative centrepiece for the dining table. They were designed to be both decorative and useful. The bowls would either be filled with flowers, nuts, sweets or fruit. The main flower does have a small bubble burst on the inside glass on a thicker ridge of the glass but it does not detract in any way from this fabulous piece.
